Monday Morning Meet Your Leaders – Nancy Kaari
American Red Cross of Jersey Coast
1. What is one of the most important qualities of a great leader?
To me, the ability to inspire and empower others is one of the most important qualities a leader can have. For an organization to be successful, leadership needs to help employees and volunteers identify what motivates them, then provide them with the tools, resources and support to successfully do the work.
2. How does your organization take our community to the next level?
At the Red Cross, our focus is on building more resilient communities. We do that by providing relief to victims of disaster and helping people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies, not just in our own communities, but across the country and around the world. Emergencies encompass everything from house fires and hurricanes, to the need for blood, first aid, CPR and lifeguard training, emergency messaging to our enlisted service members and their families, and international aid. We’re proud to say that 90% of the work we do is done by amazing volunteers.
3. What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?
Favorite things to do include being outdoors, discovering new places, reading and gardening.
4. What is your favorite food/recipe and why?
I don’t have one favorite food but I could eat Pico de Gallo every day!
