The $10,000 Engage Toms River Halloween Parade Competition is Launched
The Toms River Fire Company No. 1 Halloween Parade is the 2nd largest in the United States and the Jay and Linda Grunin Foundation in partnership with the Greater Toms River Chamber of Commerce wants to help bring it back to the previously held top spot (now occupied by New York City). For that reason they are launching the Engage Toms River Fire Company No. 1 Halloween Parade Challenge.
The winner will receive from the Jay and Linda Grunin Foundation $10,000 cash, a $5000 materials budget and up to 160 hours of help from the Toms River Artists Community (TRAC). The winning prize will be presented after their monumental trip down the October 31st Toms River Fire Company No. 1 Halloween Parade route. TRAC will receive a $5000 donation for their time and expertise.
The local community has been challenged to create the design for the best Toms River Fire Company No. 1 Halloween Parade float. The winning individual or group will create an executable float that will uniquely illustrate why Toms River is a great place to live, work and play. This float will also launch Toms River’s new hashtag slogan as chosen by the people on https://tomsriverchamber.com/TagTR.html.
Every design needs to meet the criteria in the Engage Toms River Halloween Parade Competition Prospectus in order to be eligible for the jury’s review. The deadline for entries is September 18th. A Selection Jury made up of Mayor Thomas Kelaher, Toms River Fire Department No. 1 Halloween Parade Chairman Carl Weingroff, Jay Grunin, Yvonne Yaar, Noelle Lotano, and WOBM’s Shawn and Sue will choose the Top 3 submissions to be announced on the radio on September 21st.
At the launch, Jeremy Grunin, Executive Director of the Jay and Linda Grunin Foundation stated “The Toms River Fire Company No. 1 Halloween Parade is back on Halloween Night, which is fantastic. Why not celebrate and have some fun showcasing our innovative and creative designs to launch our new Toms River slogan?”
Noelle Lotano, Executive Director of the Greater Toms River Chamber of Commerce stated “Toms River’s residents, business people and visitors recognize we live in one of the best towns in the US. We are excited to announce our new slogan at such a grand event as the historic Toms River Fire Company No. 1 Halloween Parade.”
