The Ocean County Culture and Heritage Commission and the Jay and Linda Grunin Foundation are proud to produce the premiere arts event on the Jersey Shore.

On April 4, 2017 at 6:30PM, the Ocean County Cultural and Heritage Commission, in conjunction with Ocean County College and the Jay & Linda Grunin Foundation, will present the sixth annual Salute to Ocean County: A Celebration of Arts and Heritage. This event will be held at the Grunin Center for the Arts at Ocean County College and is open to the public at no cost. Refreshments will be provided and guests can view artwork from the 2017 Teen Arts Festival, which will be on display in the Ocean County College Gallery.

This prestigious event honors Ocean County’s outstanding cultural organizations, and recognizes exceptional local artists, historians, preservationists, educators and government leaders. Other highlights include performances by students Critiqued for Excellence as part of the 2017 Teen Arts Festival of Ocean County.

Jeanette Lloyd of Beach Haven will be receiving the Pauline S. Miller Lifetime Achievement Award for Ocean County History, which recognizes her county-wide impact and advocacy of Ocean County heritage.

Kate Leigh Cutler is being presented the 2017 Lifetime Achievement in the Arts in Ocean County.  She is being recognized for her extraordinary achievements and contributions to the quality of life in Ocean County.

F&M Builders is being presented the 2017 Ocean County Historic Preservation Award for the restoration of the 1877 Buhler Mansion in Pine Beach.

Up to $10,000 in Prizes to be Awarded at Salute to Ocean County

Terms and Conditions

To be eligible to win the prize you must:

  1. have submitted a work of art or performed at the Ocean County Teen Arts Festival.
  2. have received a “Critique for Excellence”.
  3. have received the top overall score in your category.
  4. have agreed to (by 5:00pm March 24th) and then attended/performed at the Ocean County Salutes event on April 4th.
  5. win over the judges made up of the Ocean County Culture and Heritage Commission.

How Prizes will be Awarded

  1. Commission members will meet at the Ocean County College at an agreed time in advance of the Salute to Ocean County event to judge the visual art pieces.
  2. Commissioners will select a first and second selection from the 24 visual art pieces that will go on to the state Teen Arts Festival.
  3. The $1000 prize for the top visual art piece will be given out the night of the 4th – prize recipient needs to be present
    • In the case the top vote winner cannot be present at the Salute to Ocean County event, the prize will be awarded to the next highest vote until we have a selection.
    • The visual art award will not compete for the grand prize.
  4. Commissioners will preview the three mini-biography videos in advance. The $1000 prize for the top mini-biography video will be given out the night of the 4th.
  5. All commissioners present will sit in one area and they will vote for the grand prize from the five live performances and three biographic videos.
  6. This will result in three awards – Grand Prize for $5000, second place for $1000 and third place for $1000.
